One Wish Can Change Everything

Imagine being a child who spends more time in doctor’s offices than on playgrounds.

A child who knows the names of medications better than the names of Disney characters. A child whose calendar is filled with appointments, treatments, and procedures instead of birthday parties, vacations, and carefree summer days.

Now imagine someone asking that child one simple question:

“If you could have one wish, what would it be?”

For many of us, it’s hard to comprehend just how powerful that question can be.

For children facing life-threatening illnesses, a wish is more than a trip, a gift, or an experience. It’s hope. It’s excitement. It’s something to look forward to during incredibly difficult days. It’s a chance for families to step away from hospitals and appointments and simply create memories together.

That’s exactly why we’re proud to support A Special Wish Foundation of Southwest Ohio through our Give to Grow initiative.

For more than four decades, A Special Wish has been granting wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses throughout our region. Their mission is beautifully simple: create unforgettable experiences that bring joy, hope, and strength to children and their families when they need it most.

This year, our MSD family has rallied around one very special mission.

Together, we’re raising funds through October to help send an incredible little boy to Walt Disney World, where he and his family can trade medical appointments for magical moments, hospital rooms for castle views, and uncertainty for memories they’ll carry with them forever.

When we first learned his story, it reminded us why Give to Grow exists.

Yes, we install mechanical systems.

Yes, we help clients improve their facilities.

But we also believe businesses have the ability and the responsibility to make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.

Our team has embraced this campaign with incredible enthusiasm through fundraisers, friendly competitions, and acts of generosity that continue to remind us what can happen when people unite around a purpose bigger than themselves.

And this is only the beginning.

While our current focus is helping make this Disney wish come true, our hope is that this partnership continues to grow. We want to help grant even more wishes in the future, giving additional children and their families the opportunity to experience moments of joy that illness can never take away.

Because every child deserves something to dream about.

Every family deserves time to laugh together.

And every wish reminds us that hope has an incredible way of bringing people together.

If this mission speaks to you, we’d love to have you join us.

Whether you’re interested in learning more about A Special Wish Foundation of Southwest Ohio, supporting one of our upcoming fundraisers, making a donation, or finding another way to get involved, we’d be honored to connect with you.

Together, we can do more than raise money.

We can help create moments that families will treasure for the rest of their lives.

And sometimes, that’s the greatest gift of all.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
