Honoring Our Heroes: A Breakfast, A Donation, and A Journey to Remember

What a remarkable morning! Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming Al Bailey from Honor Flight Dayton to our office for a special donation breakfast. His visit was both inspiring and deeply moving—as he shared the mission of Honor Flight Network: to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials in Washington, D.C.

A Generous Beginning

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our team—and all of you who donated—we raised $500 in support of Honor Flight Dayton! Every dollar brings us closer to giving our veterans the experience they deserve: a fully sponsored trip to visit the memorials built in their honor, including the WWII Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery.

Our Mission Continues: Spreading the Word

Now more than ever, Honor Flight Dayton needs our help to spread the word:

  • They’re seeking veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, or critically ill veterans from any era to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime honor. The best part? Veterans travel completely free of charge honorflight.org+1.
  • Encouraging caregivers or guardians to step forward is vital—these dedicated individuals accompany veterans on the trip and help oversee their comfort and safety honorflight.org.

Celebrating at the Event on September 21st

Mark your calendars! September 21st is the day Honor Flight Dayton is hosting their much-anticipated event. Our team members are planning to attend, and we couldn’t be more excited. Unfortunately, tickets are officially sold out—which speaks volumes about the community’s support and the excitement around honoring our veterans.

But even if tickets aren’t available, you can still make a difference:

  • Share the message: “Veterans—don’t miss your chance! Apply today.”
  • Volunteer or help spread awareness on social media.
  • Encourage donations that help cover transportation, lodging, meals, and the cost for guardians.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
