Welcome Ben Ambos to the MSD Team!

We are thrilled to announce that Ben Ambos is joining the MSD team full-time! Ben’s transition from an intern to a full-time role is a reflection of his hard work and dedication, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board.

Ben shared some insights into his journey and what he’s looking forward to in his new role at MSD. Here’s what he had to say:

A Rich Academic Background Shaping a Bright Future at MSD

Benjamin’s academic journey is a testament to his commitment and versatility. “Aside from meeting lifelong friends, the highlight(s) of my academic career was being able to get a diverse set of work experiences,” Ben recalls. His time at the University of Cincinnati provided him not only with foundational knowledge but also the opportunity to see how different companies operate. These experiences were crucial in shaping his decision to join MSD, equipped with a robust set of organizational and technical skills.

A Proud Achievement

When asked about a project he’s particularly proud of, Ben doesn’t hesitate to mention his group’s capstone project during college. “This was a great way to put all of the skills we learned over the years to use, as well as continuing to learn key aspects of engineering and business,” he explains. The project not only challenged him and his team to solve unique problems independently but also resulted in a final product that exceeded their expectations.

Excitement for Growth and Learning at MSD

Ben’s enthusiasm about joining MSD full-time is palpable, especially when he talks about his team. “I’m most excited about being able to grow professionally with my team,” he says. The supportive and engaging environment at MSD has always stood out to him, fostering continuous learning without impatience from superiors.

Looking Toward the Future

As for his future at MSD, Ben is optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead. He is eager to grow alongside the company, particularly as MSD expands geographically and organizationally. “I hope to evolve alongside the evolution of the engineering department, and maybe have a business development role in the future,” Ben shares with hope and determination.

We are excited to see where Ben’s ambition and capabilities take him at MSD. Welcome aboard, Ben! We look forward to achieving great things together.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
