Team MSD’s Courageous Leap at the Polar Plunge 2024

This past weekend marked a momentous occasion for Team MSD, Inc as we took part in the exhilarating Polar Plunge event on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Hosted at the scenic Caesar Creek State Park, located at 8570 OH-73, Waynesville, OH 45068, our team not only braved the icy waters but also succeeded in raising a commendable $1,895 for the cause.

The Polar Plunge has become one of Team MSD’s most cherished traditions, symbolizing much more than just an icy dip. It represents a story that is deeply woven into the fabric of our team’s spirit and camaraderie. Phil Smith, reflecting on the significance of the event, shared,

“This event holds a special place in my heart. It began as a cherished tradition between Mike Kaiser, our dear friend and CAD department supervisor, and his son. After his son’s passing, I had the honor of joining Mike in this Polar Plunge, a gesture of solidarity and remembrance. A year later, we lost Mike, but not before we dreamed of making this event a grand gathering, a tribute to the bonds that unite us.”

This year’s participation and the funds raised—$1,895 to be exact—are a testament to the strength and unity of our team. It was heartwarming to see so many members take the plunge, each dive symbolizing our collective resilience and dedication to keeping the memory of our loved ones alive. The Polar Plunge is not just about the physical act of jumping into cold water; it’s about the warmth of our community coming together to support each other and honor those we’ve lost.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every team member who participated, donated, and supported us in this endeavor. Your courage, generosity, and spirit of togetherness make all the difference. As we look back on this event, we are reminded of the power of community and the impact we can have when we come together for a cause close to our heart.

Team MSD’s involvement in the Polar Plunge is a vivid reminder of the legacy left by Mike Kaiser and his son. It’s a tradition that we carry forward with pride, commitment, and a deep sense of purpose. We plunge not just into the cold waters but into a future where we continue to make a difference, honoring memories and creating new ones together.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Polar Plunge a memorable and meaningful event. Here’s to many more years of taking the plunge, for a cause that transcends the chill and warms our hearts.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
