MSD, Inc Celebrates Innovation and Community Engagement at the Synergy Executives Forum 2023

We are thrilled to share an inspiring story of innovation, teamwork, and philanthropy that unfolded at the Synergy Executives Forum’s Best Idea Challenge 2023. This annual event brings together forward-thinking companies to compete in a friendly yet profound competition designed to celebrate creativity, foster collaboration, and most importantly, support charitable causes.

This year, MSD, Inc was proud to be represented by our very own Nick Davis and Brad Bradley, who stepped up to the challenge with an idea that not only showcased their innovative thinking but also their commitment to making a meaningful impact. Their proposal for an analytic database website aimed at assisting clients in monitoring the end of life for units captivated the audience and judges alike, demonstrating a perfect blend of technological innovation and practical application.

The competition was stiff, with 12 companies submitting a plethora of groundbreaking ideas. Each participant contributed to a prize pool with a wager, embodying the spirit of giving and competition. What makes the Best Idea Challenge stand out is its unique twist: Synergy matches the prize pool and donates it to a charity chosen by the winners.

Nick and Brad’s exceptional proposal earned them a $3,800 prize, which they chose to donate to The Journey League of Dayton, Ohio Chapter. This charity, close to our hearts at MSD, Inc, works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those it serves, and we are honored to support their mission through this contribution.

The Best Idea Challenge is a testament to the values that lie at the heart of the Synergy Executives Forum. It’s not just about the competition; it’s about coming together as a community to foster innovation, encourage collaboration, and support those in need.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Nick Davis and Brad Bradley for their remarkable achievement and for choosing to support The Journey League of Dayton, Ohio Chapter with their prize. Their success is a shining example of the potential that lies in combining innovation with a commitment to the community.

At MSD, Inc, we are inspired by the impact of the Synergy Executives Forum and are proud to be a part of a community that values innovation, collaboration, and philanthropy. We look forward to continuing to support our team members in their endeavors to make a positive impact in the world and encourage others to do the same.

Together, we can make a difference, one innovative idea at a time.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
