On August 14, 2025, the Dayton Builders Exchange (DBX) gathered industry leaders, skilled tradespeople, and community partners at the Eichelberger Pavilion in Carillon Park for the annual Team Building Night — an evening dedicated to honoring the talent and dedication that power Miami Valley.
Among this year’s award recipients were three standout members of the Mechanical Services and Design (MSD) team: Bart Storrer, Brandon Thompson, and Nate Gibson, each recognized with the prestigious Craftsmanship Award in their respective trades. MSD also earned a Platinum DBX Safety Award, underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to protecting its workforce while delivering exceptional results.
Bart Storrer – Craftsmanship Electrician
Bart’s career began in the heart of the Corn Belt, where he quickly learned that mastering complex systems at grain elevators was like holding the key to solving just about any electrical challenge. Since joining MSD, Bart has been the go-to problem solver for projects that demand both technical expertise and creative thinking.
Recently, he led electric vehicle (EV) charger installations for the City of Dayton — a project that required not just wiring but designing workable solutions in areas with no existing power infrastructure. From navigating downtown street work and multi-level parking garage installs to adapting around unexpected schedule disruptions, Bart delivered with precision and professionalism. Certified in Thermography, variable frequency drives, OSHA compliance, and multi-level safety protocols, he consistently embodies the craftsmanship and leadership MSD values most.
Brandon Thompson – Craftsmanship Plumber
With more than 20 years in the plumbing and piping trade, Brandon’s career has been defined by skill, dedication, and the ability to connect with everyone on the jobsite. A graduate of the UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 162’s apprenticeship program, Brandon’s extensive experience in piping, plumbing, and welding makes him an exceptional foreman and trusted leader.
At MSD, Brandon is known for his ability to balance the technical demands of the job with budget awareness, schedule coordination, and effective communication with project managers. Off the clock, he enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, tending to a mix of domestic and farm animals, hosting legendary cookouts, fishing, and working on hot rod builds. His blend of technical mastery and people-first leadership made him a clear choice for the Craftsmanship Award.
Nate Gibson – Craftsmanship Sheet Metal
Nate’s path to becoming one of MSD’s leading sheet metal foremen started in an unexpected place — studying criminal justice — before discovering his true calling in the trades. Enrolling in MSD’s own four-year Mini University apprenticeship program, Nate rose from apprentice to journeyman and then foreman, honing his skills under the mentorship of seasoned leaders.
His most challenging project to date came in 2022 with the $1.6M Cedarville School of Business job, where limited staging space and a distant material drop-off point required meticulous planning and logistical expertise. Nate’s leadership kept the project on track while navigating the complexities of an active campus. Today, his reputation for organization, teamwork, and jobsite excellence continues to make him an invaluable asset to MSD.
A Culture of Safety and Excellence
In addition to individual honors, MSD was awarded the Platinum DBX Safety Award, a distinction that reflects the company’s deep-rooted safety culture. Achieving this recognition requires not just compliance with safety protocols but also proactive measures to ensure every employee returns home safe at the end of the day.
At Mechanical Services and Design, these awards are more than a win or an award — they’re a testament to the dedication, skill, and teamwork that drive our projects and our people forward. Congratulations to Bart, Brandon, and Nate for their well-deserved recognition, and to the entire MSD team for continuing to set the standard for craftsmanship and safety in the Miami Valley construction community.
